Our approach
We are 100% local and proudly South African
All our products are designed in our Cape Town studio and manufactured in South Africa. The look-and-feel of our range is inspired by the indigenous botanicals of South Africa with a contemporary twist to keep them distinctive. We are passionate about keeping it local and striving to support our economy.
Environmentally friendly
All our paper placemats are produced on FSC accredited paper, meaning that no forests were chopped down to produce the paper and they are printed with soy-based inks. They are fully recyclable and should be disposed of in a recycling bin. An added benefit is that they reduce the need to launder tablecloths as the large size placemat catches all the spills around the plate, so there is a further saving on water and electricity costs.
Gather and share with style and ease
There are so many uses for the TableArt range from casual to formal, indoor to outdoor. Here are some ideas:
• Family celebrations like birthdays, milestones, achievements, homecomings
• Outdoor braais/barbecues or brunch on the patio
• Sundowners and dinner parties or even romantic dinners for two
• Weddings, celebrations and corporate functions
Our story
So where did we begin ...
A few years ago, while running a design studio, I needed a novel end-of-year gift for my clients. After researching ideas, I decided to design paper placemats for them to use over the holiday season when people tend to do lots of entertaining. There were a few spare packs which I used as teachers’ gifts and one remaining pack for my own use. Our family enjoys entertaining and my husband is well known for his delicious meals, so I tried out the placemats on my own table. It was so quick and easy to create a beautiful looking table using the placemats as a starting point and fun making the complete table setting look inviting. I was taken by surprise when the guests started asking if I had any to sell.
So I approached a few gift shops to see if they were interested in putting disposable placemats on their shelves. The concept was still very new, but the response was positive. Soon the side-hustle business selling disposable placemats grew into a bigger range of table decor and home entertaining products which can now be found in gift and decor stores around South Africa. It is always a thrill to see TableArt’s products piled up on display in a shop and just as special to see how people have used it in their homes to create a place to catch up, gather round and enjoy a meal with their families and their friends.
Finally we have a website where we can showcase the range. So have a browse , engage with us on Instagram, Facebook, email. We are always excited to help you make your celebration – big or small, smart or casual – look awesome.
